Salary: £60,000 - 70,000 per year
Requirements: We require 5+ years of commercial experience in PHP development.We need strong experience with PHP 7.4, particularly CakePHP, and PHP 8+ with Laravel or Symfony.We expect experience building RESTful APIs and backend services.We require strong MySQL knowledge, including query optimisation and performance tuning.We look for understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and SOLID principles.We expect experience with JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS, Git, Docker, and Linux/WSL environments.We require strong experience with unit testing, automated testing, and code reviews.We expect experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.Exposure to Vue.js/Nuxt, Azure, CI/CD pipelines, messaging technologies, microservices, or event-driven architectures is desirable.Experience in regulated industries such as Insurance or Financial Services is beneficial.We require A-Level or equivalent. Responsibilities: We develop and maintain backend systems using PHP, including Laravel and CakePHP.We deliver features end to end, from design and development through to testing and deployment.We enhance and modernise legacy CakePHP applications.We build and maintain APIs, integrations, and backend services.We write clean, maintainable, and testable code.We contribute to code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD processes.We support architecture decisions, technical improvements, and reduction of technical debt.We troubleshoot production issues and support continuous improvement.We mentor developers through knowledge sharing, coaching, and code reviews.We collaborate with Product Owners, QA, DevOps, and wider technology teams. We are a growing organisation seeking a Senior PHP Developer to join our internal technology team and support the development and enhancement of our business-critical CRM platform. You will work within an Agile Scrum team, delivering scalable backend solutions, taking ownership of complex features, contributing to technical improvements, and supporting engineering best practices across the team. The role is based in Basingstoke with a hybrid working arrangement of one day onsite per week, and offers a salary of £60,000 to £70,000 per annum.
