Requirements: Proficiency in SQL is essential.Experience with data visualization is highly desirable.Proficiency in MS Excel.Experience in data modelling, metadata management, and data synthesis.Proven work experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.In-depth understanding of database structure principles.Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements.Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques.Proven analytical skills.Problem-solving attitude. Responsibilities: Develop database solutions to store and retrieve company information.Install and configure information systems to ensure functionality.Analyse, plan, and define the data architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata, and master data.Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions.Design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts.Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new elements.Optimize new and current database systems.Define security and backup procedures.Collaborate with other teams across the organisation to devise and implement data strategies, build models, and assess stakeholder needs and goals.Provide operational support for Management Information Systems. We are a world-class defence organisation recruiting a Data Engineer / Data Architect for an initial 12-month contract in Stevenage. This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days per week onsite, and a compressed four-day week from Monday to Thursday is also an option. The contract is for 37 hours per week, with overtime paid at time and a quarter for hours worked over 37. The role is inside IR35 and offered on an umbrella basis, with the potential for extension beyond the initial term.
