Requirements: Must hold DV clearance.Experienced Windows Engineer with generalist capability across Infrastructure and Workplace environments.Hands-on skills and in-depth expertise across Windows Server, Windows OS, desktop applications, virtualisation platforms including VDI, storage solutions, Active Directory and access management.Knowledge of networking principles and excellent troubleshooting skills. Responsibilities: Provide operational BAU support, administration and configuration management across Infrastructure and Workplace Windows environments on restricted-secret and above networks.Maintain a good working knowledge of the business IT environment.Plan and coordinate maintenance and patching across Windows environments on restricted-secret and above networks.Access and implement changes to the restricted Windows environment while ensuring minimal operational disruption.Create, maintain and audit inventory information and asset registers as required.Create, maintain and review comprehensive, high-quality documentation, including standard problem-resolution and fix documentation, and keep technical knowledge bases up to date.Resolve incidents related to Windows services across restricted-secret and above networks in line with agreed SLAs and escalation processes.Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for Windows-related issues and problem resolution, including incident response, investigation and remediation within SLA timeframes.Coordinate with incident and technical managers and follow incident-management processes during high-severity incidents.Identify root causes of recurring incidents and assist with implementing long-term solutions.Participate in lessons-learned activities, conduct root-cause analysis and document findings as part of continuous improvement.Ensure incidents and requests assigned to the team queue are updated and closed in accordance with SLAs.Stay current with developments in Windows technologies, products, practices and trends.Support monitoring and alerting across restricted-secret and above networks; respond proactively to alerts and implement threshold- and health-based remediation as appropriate.Monitor and optimise network and server performance, security and backups.Ensure compliance with security guidance and best practice in line with adopted security postures.Liaise with agreed third-party service providers for assistance, technical support, troubleshooting and network management, and provide them with technical guidance.Bring key issues, changes and topics to service meetings for discussion.Participate in cross-functional team collaboration as required. We are recruiting two Windows Engineer subcontractors for our Digital Excellence function, which provides IT services to the business. The initial contract is 12 months, with ongoing long-term work thereafter. The role is based in Stevenage and is 100% site-based due to the nature of the network. It is an inside-IR35 umbrella contract, offering £74.32 per hour for 37 hours per week; hours above 37 per week are paid at time and a quarter.
