Requirements: A solid background in software engineering, ideally with development experience in a regulated software safety context such as Defence, Aerospace, Rail, Nuclear or Medical applications.Experience with Ada is preferred, or strong experience with C or C++.Experience with other software languages such as C, C++ or Rust is welcome.A passion for software engineering, with the ability to innovate and think critically to solve complex software problems.A willingness to develop software skillsets.Knowledge of software design differences between Real-Time OSs and Hypervisors would be beneficial.Experience using Linux operating systems would be beneficial.Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment.Able to communicate and contribute to design and implementation decisions.Able to support integration activities. We are a world-class defence organisation based in Bristol, working on software and its successful deployment in battlespace Command and Control weapon systems. We deliver safe, secure, and reliable products to our customers and are focused on technology at the forefront of European missile system design. This is a 6-month subcontractor role with a very likely extension, typically ongoing and long-term thereafter. The position is onsite 4 days per week, and a 4-day working week Monday to Thursday is acceptable. The rate is £68.00 per hour, with overtime paid at time and a quarter for hours worked over 37 per week. The role is inside IR35 (umbrella), and the interview process is a one-stage video interview.
