Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Midwife to join our team as CNST Lead Midwife, playing a key role in driving forward maternity quality, safety and clinical governance.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead on delivery of the Clinical Negligence Scheme for Trusts (CNST) maternity incentive scheme, ensuring compliance with national safety standards and supporting the continuous improvement of maternity services.
The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide expert leadership, coordination and assurance across all CNST safety actions, supporting a culture of high-quality, safe, and evidence-based care.
Main duties of the job
The CNST Lead Midwife will:
Lead the delivery and coordination of CNST maternity incentive scheme requirementsEnsure robust evidence, audit and assurance processes are in place to demonstrate complianceWork collaboratively with clinical, governance and education teams to implement safety actionsSupport the development, implementation and review of clinical guidelines and standardsDrive continuous quality improvement through audit, evaluation and learning from incidentsProvide expert advice on maternity safety, governance and risk managementLead on preparation and submission of CNST evidence and compliance returnsEscalate risks and provide reports to senior leadership and governance forums

Support the Maternity Quality & Safety Matron to co-ordinate patient safety and clinical governance activities, deputizing where required.The Maternity Safety Strategy sets out the Department of Health and Social Care ambition to reward those who have taken action to improve maternity safety. NHS Resolution work through the Maternity Incentive Scheme (MIS), which incentivises maternity safety actions across a range of areas.The post holders primary responsibility will be to oversee the effective delivery of the Maternity Incentive Scheme. However, the post holder will still be required to support general governance activity as part of the Directorate Quality & Safety team, as required.
