Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Older Adults Wards at UHNM as a Diversional Therapist on the Elderly Care wards (Ward 76b). This is an exciting new role that will support our most vulnerable older adult patients whilst they are in the hospital setting. This role involves working closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure we provide the highest standards of care to our most vulnerable older adults.
Ward 76b is a 23 bedded Care of the Older Adult ward with patients who have a wide range complex medical, physical, psychological and also social needs. It is a fast paced environment with a lot to learn about with a forward thinking and supportive team.
The role of Diversional Therapist is an essential one in keeping patients active physiologically and physically and engaging them in completing various activities that can aid recovery.
To act of a central person on the ward areas to plan and deliver activities for our older adult patients.
Liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team to provide individualised care and activities suited to the needs of the older adult patients.
