About this role

Job summary

At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.

We are seeking a motivated and proactive Domestic Training Supervisor to support the delivery of high-quality cleaning services across UHNM. Working closely with the Facilities Management Team, you will lead the training and development of domestic staff, ensuring compliance with the National Standards of Cleanliness, Trust policies, infection prevention requirements, and health and safety standards.

You will deliver inductions, refresher training, competency assessments and workplace coaching, while monitoring training compliance, maintaining accurate records and identifying development needs. Working collaboratively with supervisors and managers, you will support staff to achieve high standards and contribute to continuous service improvement across both hospital sites.

This is a hands-on role combining training, supervision and operational support. During periods of service pressure, you will work alongside frontline teams to maintain cleanliness standards and ensure a safe, clean and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Main duties of the job

As the Domestic Training Supervisor, you will support the delivery of a high-quality domestic service across UHNM by training and development of Domestic Assistants. You will ensure staff have the knowledge, skills and competencies required to meet National Standards of Cleanliness, Trust policies and infection prevention requirements.

The role involves delivering inductions, refresher training, workplace coaching and competency assessments, while maintaining accurate training records and monitoring compliance with statutory, mandatory and role-specific training requirements. You will identify training needs through audits, observation and feedback, implementing improvement plans to maintain consistent service standards.

Working closely with Facilities Management, you will support in cleaning methods, COSHH, health and safety, infection prevention and the safe use of equipment. You will support the allocation of trained staff across service areas, contributing to service improvement, and assist with the induction and development of new starters.

This is a hands-on role requiring you to lead by example to maintain cleanliness standards and service delivery targets.

Please note: This position is primarily based at County Hospital, Stafford, but the successful candidate will be required to work across both County Hospital and Royal Stoke University Hospital to support domestic services and training needs. A flexible approach to travel and working locations is essential.

Qualifications Essential

Good standard of general education (GCSE level or equivalent in English and Maths or demonstrable literacy and numeracy skills)

NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning, Support Services or equivalent relevant experience

Knowledge of National Standards of Cleanliness and their application within a healthcare environment. Awareness of Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH Ability to deliver effective training, coaching and on-the-job instruction to staff Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain procedures clearly Basic IT skills (e.g. use of email, training systems, recording data) Experience of supporting or delivering training in the workplace Able to lead by example and promote high standards of cleanliness and behaviour Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing service demands

Experience within an NHS or healthcare setting NVQ Level 3 in Cleaning Supervision, Facilities Services or equivalent Experience contributing to audits or service improvement activities
