About this role

Job summary

Come and join our award-winning Strategy and Transformation team at London Ambulance Service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping how we respond to the changing health and care environment and continue to meet the needs of our patients.

As Strategy Lead, you will work on a diverse portfolio of change and transformation programmes, leading and supporting initiatives that range from operational improvement programmes such as winter planning through to major system-wide partnerships and strategic developments, including Neighbourhood Health. You will be well connected to the frontline, working closely with multidisciplinary teams across LAS to redesign services, improve ways of working and ensure the voices of staff, patients and stakeholders directly influence our strategic direction.

This is a dynamic and varied role, offering the opportunity to work across multiple programmes simultaneously, build strong relationships across the organisation and wider health system, and make a significant contribution to one of the NHS's most visible and impactful organisations that works pan-London.

Interviews will take place in person at the London Ambulance Service Headquarters on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th August.

Main duties of the job

The post holder willleadthestrategyprocessfor thedevelopment of initiatives to support transformational change. They will work effectively with clinicians, managers and staff to develop an environment that promotes continuous service and quality improvement. A key part will be to ensure service development and transformational change is delivered in accordance with national and local performance standards and within a corporate governance framework. They will be skilled at preparing briefing papers and reports to the LAS executive management team and senior management team. They will lead internal and external working groups providing specialist advice, expertise, support and guidance where needed and contribute to the implementation of solutions. They will carry out any other duties as may be required by their line manager, the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer and the Deputy Director of Strategy and Transformation.

Information management

The postholder will ensure timely and accurate information analysis and reporting to management on agreed areas of work. Co-ordinate the analysis, synthesis and presentation of appropriate quantitative and qualitative data required to support transformation initiatives Be capable of reviewing data and recognising its relevance to workflow, quality and performance. Planning and Organisational Responsibilities

Contribute to the strategic planning of team projects, identifying interdependencies across projects/functions, potential impacts on wider organisation, resource requirements and building in contingency and adjustments as necessary Take a lead role in planning activities and workshops to support transformational change, Develop and implement data collection systems that will provide accurate and timely data. Policy and Service Development Responsibilities

Actively work with clinicians, managers and staff to develop an environment that promotes continuous service and quality improvement and ensures sustainability. Contribute to short-, medium and long-term business plans, achieving quality outcomes. Contribute to the development of key performance indicators for the successful assessment of individual, programme and project success. Managing Resources Responsibilities

Provide regular reporting on the targeting of resources and monitoring their implementation from a value for money perspective. Evaluate projects/function within identified portfolio for delivery against financial plans through providing sophisticated, high-quality analysis. Financial Management

The post holder must maintain compliance with Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions and must manage any delegated budgets in accordance with agreed financial limits and appropriate responsibility for public money.

Person Specification

Qualifications, Accreditations, Education Essential

Educated to Master's degree level in health and/or social care subject or equivalent level qualification or, additional theoretical or conceptual knowledge acquisition such as would be acquired through a taught master's course

Experience Essential

Recent experience (a minimum of 12 months experience within the last 24 months) of working at a similar level in an NHS organisation Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating projects/improvement initiatives in complex and challenging environments Experience of managing risks and reporting Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence at SMT level Understanding of the public sector Recent experience (a minimum of 12 months experience within the last 24 months) of leading redesign and improvement initiatives Recent experience (a minimum of 12 months experience within the last 24 months) and a demonstrated understanding of project management style of working, principles, techniques and tools, such as Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project

Knowledge and Skills Essential

Experience of creating and giving presentations to a varied group of internal and external stakeholders Demonstrated capability to act upon incomplete information, using experience to make inferences and decision making Numerate and able to understand complex financial issues combined with deep analytical skills Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures Demonstrated capability to plan over short, medium and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly Demonstrated capabilities to manage own workload and make informed decisions in the absence of required information, working to tight and often changing timescales The promotion of equality of opportunity and good working relations (providing practical leadership) Strong organisational skills to include planning, implementing and managing projects/initiatives with a high level of autonomy Computer skills including the use of Microsoft Outlook, Office, PowerPoint and Excel
