Job Title: Logistics Coordinator / DispatcherJob DescriptionThis role focuses on coordinating the transportation of customer shipments while delivering exceptional service, operational efficiency, and on-time performance. The Logistics Coordinator / Dispatcher plans and manages transportation assignments, serves as a primary point of contact for customers and drivers, and ensures shipments move smoothly from assignment through final delivery. The position suits a highly motivated, customer-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and can balance customer expectations, driver relationships, and business objectives with a high level of professionalism. Responsibilities • Plan, coordinate, and manage transportation assignments in an efficient and cost-effective manner. • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and transportation providers throughout the dispatch process, from shipment assignment through final delivery. • Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, drivers, and internal stakeholders. • Monitor active shipments to ensure timely pickup and delivery while meeting customer service expectations. • Proactively identify and resolve transportation and service-related issues to minimize disruptions and delays. • Partner with cross-functional teams to address operational challenges and develop practical solutions. • Maintain accurate shipment documentation, dispatch records, and related data entry in transportation systems. • Utilize transportation management and dispatch software, as well as Microsoft Office applications, to manage daily operations. • Apply knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations and electronic logging systems (ELDs/eLogs) when applicable to support compliant operations. • Provide clear, professional communication to resolve conflicts, address issues, and support customer satisfaction. • Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and accountability in managing loads and responding to changing conditions. • Support and, when applicable, guide team members by leveraging prior leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience. • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by leadership to support overall logistics and transportation objectives. Essential Skills • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including clear oral, electronic, and written correspondence. • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build relationships and manage conflict effectively. • High level of organization and strong attention to detail in managing multiple shipments and records. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including the ability to think critically and act in real time. • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word. • Ability to learn and navigate transportation management and dispatch software. • Experience or familiarity with logistics, transportation, dispatch, or third-party logistics operations. • Data entry skills with accuracy and consistency in recording shipment and dispatch information. • A strong sense of urgency and accountability in managing transportation activities. • A customer-first mindset with a focus on service excellence and relationship building. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience in these areas. • College degree or at least one year of logistics experience, preferably in a trucking or transportation environment. • Experience in transportation, trucking, logistics, freight brokerage, or dispatch operations. • Knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations relevant to trucking and transportation operations. • Experience with electronic logging systems (ELDs/eLogs). • Previous leadership, supervisory, management, or team lead experience. • Experience working in a high-energy logistics or transportation setting. • Background in third-party logistics (3PL) environments. • Comfort working directly with drivers, customers, and internal teams to coordinate freight and resolve issues. Work EnvironmentThis is a fully onsite position with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The work environment is fast-paced and highly collaborative, centered around coordinating transportation activities and managing real-time shipment information. You will work primarily with office-based tools, including transportation management and dispatch software, electronic logging systems, and Microsoft Office applications. The role involves frequent communication by phone, email, and other electronic channels with customers, drivers, and internal teams. The environment supports long-term, direct employment with opportunities to build experience in logistics, transportation, and dispatch operations. Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Plymouth, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $65000.00/yr.2 weeks of pto (prorated), med, vision and dental, no premium on medical.
