About this role

Location: Benson Primary School Reports To: Benson Primary School Principal Start Date: Immediately Closing Date: Open until filled TERMS & BENEFITS: 37.5 hours/week; mandatory sick leave; preschool/child care discounts QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have high school diploma or equivalent AND minimum of 3-6 months experience in childcare, education or working with children in related activities. If applicant does not have an Associates degree, then applicant must be able to pass a Highly Qualified paraprofessional test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Observes and monitors control of students' behavior in the classroom and other areas.

• Supervises large and small groups of students.

• Establishes, maintains and promotes a classroom atmosphere which ensures the emotional and physical safety and well-being of students and emphasizes mutual respect, self-worth, self-discipline, cooperation, consideration and responsibility.

• Assesses student needs and develops, implements and evaluates daily lesson plans for students to include scheduled activities and materials.

• Modifies instruction of program to meet the needs of each child.

• Plans, organizes and displays classroom materials, space and time appropriate to curricular activities.

• Perform other duties as assigned
