About this role
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Train and develop all transportation personnel
• Supervise and observe driver activities to assure they are following proper company procedures and abiding by legal requirements, enforcing policies when necessary
• Complete employee evaluations and provide salary recommendations
• Schedule deliveries based on delivery schedule worksheet, customer and consultant call ins
• Coordinate delivery of customer orders including changing dates and tonnage of orders with approval of Customer Service Department to fit availability of trucks, coordinating with Production plant on mixing order.
• Match drivers, equipment, and orders for delivery of product as needed, arranging for outside carriers when advantageous or necessary
• Coordinate between all facilities for delivery of ingredients, equipment purchases, and product or ingredient transfers
• Assist in Transportation policy decisions and hiring
• Fill the role of relief driver to cover vacation time, sick time, or handle short routes either for pick up or delivery to meet demand.
• Conduct a daily dispatch review and compile driver paperwork
• Arrange for returns of customer products in response to salesperson requests
• Compile driver hours and miles figures
• Maintain driver log and safety inspection files in a manner to meet DOT requirements; check driver logs for legal operation of vehicles
• Schedule maintenance and repair of tractors and trailers as needed
• Maintain registrations and permits at maximum weight capacity
• Train PerforMix drivers and drivers employed by outside companies regarding operations and quality control policies (excluding maneuvering of vehicle)
• Oversee Transportation Staff and provide input to Facility Manager and Director of Transportation for staff challenges or concerns
• Maintain a positive attendance record by demonstrating consistent and punctual attendance on a regular basis
• Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Basic math skills
• Must be computer literate and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Commercial Driver's License Class A
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• OR minimum of one (1) year of related experience and/or training
