Reports To Aquatics Center Coordinator & Fitness and Aquatic Center Supervisor Essential Job Functions
• Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility
• Able to act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency
• Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
• Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service
• Attends mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled
• Maintains a clean facility performing house cleaning duties
• Assists Lifeguard personnel with knowledge of policies and procedures as well as departmental goals and objectives
• Assists in the new lifeguard orientation process
• Occasionally assists with inservice training
• Inventories and recognizes when supplies or equipment need to be ordered and communicates the needs to the Aquatics Coordinator
• Assist Aquatics Coordinator as requested

• Ability to communicate effectively with patrons, supervisors, and other employees.
• Ability to remain alert, attentive, and responsible.
• Ability to be a team player
• Ability to perform tasks requiring physical strength and/or stamina to effectively rescue victims, administer first aid, and CPR;
• Ability to perform work, which involves frequent lifting, pushing and pulling of heavy objects;
• Ability to hear and distinguish a variety of sounds in a noisy environment such as participants in need of assistance, whistles, or co-workers requesting assistance in a rescue effort;
• Ability to see patrons in need of assistance from any distances;
• Ability to speak loudly to warn program participants of impending danger
• Experience
• Preferred: Age 17 years or older
• Required: Previous lifeguard experience
• Additional Requirements
• Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (required)
• Working knowledge of lifesaving techniques
• Strong swimming and life saving abilities
Schedule and Location Shifts vary Monday through Sunday at the New Prague Fitness and Aquatic Center. This position would include approximately 20+ hours per week in the summer. Potential for some hours throughout the school year. Training Attendance at monthly/bimonthly staff trainings is required.
