Counselor-Secondary QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in guidance and counseling from accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate (certified as School Counselor) If not fully certified as counselor: must be certified as a teacher st the grade level of this assignment; have 24 hours of graduate-level credit, including 12 semester hours in guidance and counseling; have 3 creditable years of classroom teaching experience; and be currently enrolled in accredited master's degree program for counseling JOB DESCRIPTION: Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive program of guidance, including counseling services to campus. Use a planning process to define needs and priorities of population served. Provide a proactive, developmental guidance program for all students to maximize personal growth and development. RESPONSIBILITIES: Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to supervise assigned counseling aide(s) and clerical employee(s) Knowledge of appropriate testing procedures and master scheduling EXPERIENCE: Three years teaching experience.
