Location: North Carolina Cyber Academy (High School Division) Durham, North Carolina (Primarily Remote)

Job Type: Full-time (Monday - Friday)

Salary Range: $44,557.00 - $71,673.00 per year (Based on experience and qualifications)

We aim to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in post-secondary education and / or the profession of their choosing. NCCA-HS traditionally is one of the largest virtual high school programs in North Carolina averaging (1,300) 9th - 12th grade students annually and a graduating class of 270+.

Job / Teaching Assignment Overview: NCCA-HS has one (1) position available in our Social Studies Department for the 2026-27 school year. This position will have teaching responsibilities that may include any course within the department's scope, including but not limited to: Criminology, Geography, Sociology, World History, etc. The teaching content for core subjects will align with the Social Studies Standard Course of Study as determined, published, and expected by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI). Elective content is traditionally created by the teacher with support from our Instructional Coaches, district provided resources, etc.

We are seeking a dedicated Social Studies Teacher to join our already strong Social Studies Department, which regularly offers several elective courses in addition to the Social Studies core content. The teacher will provide engaging, student centered instruction to 9th - 12th Grade high school students in Social Studies. The instruction will be delivered synchronously Monday - Thursday, and asynchronously on Fridays. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the North Carolina Social Studies curriculum as determined, published, and expected by NCDPI

• Maintain accurate student records, assessments, and required documentation

• Participate in professional development and stay updated on Social Studies standards, content, and trends

• Engage with parents, colleagues, and the community to support student success

• Support the overall NCCA-HS program by serving and supporting the high school program with regard to field trips, parent-teacher conferences, in-office meetings, special events, committees, etc.

• Be an active member and contributor of the HS Social Studies Department's weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC)

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree (minimum)

• Licensure: North Carolina Social Studies 9-12 teaching license (we will not consider a North Carolina Social Studies 6-9 teaching license)

• Experience: 3+ years of teaching experience (Preferred)

• Excellent communication, classroom management, and problem-solving skills

• Experience teaching in a virtual or remote setting (Preferred)

• Familiarity with learning management systems such as Canvas (Preferred)

• MUST be a North Carolina resident to be considered for hire, must maintain North Carolina residency while employed by NCCA

Work Location:

• Hybrid / Remote approximately 90-95% per month. School Office located in Durham, NC 27713

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
