About this role
The job of Vehicle Mechanic is done for the purpose/s of ensuring the availability of District vehicles and grounds equipment in safe operating condition including determining needed repairs and/or replacements; performing required repairs and preventative maintenance and providing written documentation of repairs to meet District, State, and Federal requirements. Essential Functions
• Adjusts parts and/or components
• Diagnoses potential equipment malfunctions, e.g., school buses, shop vehicles, food service trucks, tractors, trenchers, forklifts, grounds equipment, etc.
• Maintains tools, equipment and shop area
• Monitors fuel storage
• Prepares documentation, e.g., records of repairs, maintenance logs, etc.
• Procures equipment, supplies and materials
• Repairs systems/components, etc.
• Replaces all defective parts; transports various items to schools, e.g., mowers, supplies, chairs, tables, etc.
• Assists other trades, as may be required, e.g., welding duties, etc.
Qualifications:
• Job related experience within specialized field is required.
• Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance.
• Ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License-Class B with passenger Endorsement.
• Air And Brake Endorsement.
• Random drug testing.
• Pre-placement Physical Exam.
• First Aid/CPR Certification within 4 months.
• Freon Recovery Recycling Certificate.
• Targeted job related education that meets organization's prerequisite requirements.
This is a 12-month position.
