About this role

CHS Girls Swimming - Head Coach Reports to: Principal / Athletic Director Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Must pass fingerprinting/background check that meets required state, federal and Clarkston School District standards

• Must hold a current and valid First Aid and CPR card, OR be able to obtain them prior to working with athletes

• Must be at least 19 years of age for Assistant Coaching Positions and at least 21 years of age for Head Coaching Positions pursuant to WIAA regulations

• Must complete WIAA required training

• Must complete onboarding paperwork and SafeSchools training PRIOR to working with athletes

• Be available for all practices and competitions from 3 p.m. daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required

• Prior coaching experience preferred

General Functions:

• Supports the High School in all of its athletic programs and demonstrates commitment to strengthen relations within the educational system, as well as the coaching profession

• Demonstrates loyalty and supports the head coach in conducting the athletic program of that particular sport

• Knowledgeable and aware of rules and regulations concerning his/her sport

• Assumes any duties assigned to him/her by the head coach pertaining to the overall athletic program of that particular sport and assumes the responsibilities of the head coach in the absence of the head coach

• Assists and is accountable to the head coach, athletic director and principal

• Accompanies and directs the assigned team to all games and practices

• Holds a current first aid and CPR card

• Keeps current on all clock hours depending on coaching level

• Exemplifies good sportsmanship and is held to the same sportsmanship expectations as the head coach

Essential Functions:

• Supervises and instructs students in the fundamentals of the sport he/she is coaching

• Maintains facilities and equipment

• Supervises team players at practice, games, in locker room and during travel

• Promotes sportsmanship and fair play among all teams and players by always setting a good example for participants and fans to follow, instructs participants in proper sportsmanship responsibilities, makes sportsmanship a high priority, respects the judgement of contest officials, abides by rules of the event
