About this role
Qualifications: 1. High School Diploma or GED. 2. Hands-on construction experience. 3. Bachelor's degree with emphasis in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field, or work experience sufficient to substitute for formal education. 4. Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, equipment, procedures, and materials pertinent to the construction, maintenance, repair and alteration of buildings and related facilities and equipment. 5. Demonstrated ability to use PC computers, electronic office equipment and familiar with general office procedures. 6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with architects, engineers, site administrators, contractor superintendents, and crew foremen. 7. The ability to live and work in a cross-cultural rural, Alaskan environment. 8. The ability and willingness to travel to remote village locations, as necessary. 9. Ability to carry out successfully the duties described below.
Duties: 1. Reviews design drawings and specifications for conformance with district programs, building design standards and accepted construction methods. 2. Inspects and evaluates in-progress construction work of contractors and maintenance personnel to determine conformance with approved plans and specifications and accepted industry practices and procedures. 3. Prepares and submits regular inspection reports of ongoing work. 4. Assists in the review of contractor progress evaluations. 5. Performs other duties as assigned or as necessary for the proper execution of the construction program.
