Position: Contracted Classroom Aide (Multiple Disability Program) Reports to: MD Programming Supervisor Employment Status: Regular/Full-Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Description: Under the classroom teacher's immediate supervision, will assist in the preparation and presentation of activities, support, and fulfillment of students' Individual Education Plans (IEP) Note: The list below is not ranked in order of importance. Essential Functions:
• Ensure the safety of students. • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, such as student IEPs, testing information, and student and staff information. • Interact positively with staff, students, and parents. • Assist in the preparation and presentation of teacher-planned activities. • Assist with the presentation of lessons, activities, and small groups of students after appropriate guidance from classroom teacher. • Supervise and monitor students in all school settings based on teacher instruction and students' IEPs. • Assist teachers in implementing behavior management plans necessary for the habilitation and education of students. • Participation in a team approach for developing approaches to manage student behavior. • Assist the teacher in preparing and implementing field trips and community activities. • Assist in necessary physical care to maintain the health and welfare of the students. • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the classroom. • Work with other MD staff in team approaches to decision-making. • Assist in completing necessary documentation and paperwork for charting behavior and academic progress. • Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation. • Attend work regularly and punctually. • Demonstrate a positive work ethic. • Work cooperatively with others in small groups.
