JD 5-1 JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: PARAPROFESSIONAL PRIMARY FUNCTION: Assist Teacher in classroom QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree equivalent or successful completion of the ParaProfessional Assessment exam. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS Frequent walking, standing, sitting, stooping, and lifting up to approximately 60 pounds of equipment, materials, and/or students. REPORTS TO: Principal, Classroom Teacher PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/task:
• Carry out instructional activities under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher.
• May carry out particular routine aspects of the instructional program under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
• Assist teacher in maintaining a classroom management policy that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff.
• Assist in ensuring adequate supervision for students.
• Assume responsibility for professional growth and keep materials, supplies and skills up-to-date.
• Complete state autism training requirements and participate in other professional development activities, as requested.
• Candidate must possess good moral character.
• Promote a positive attitude in daily communications with students and school employees.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 month contract, non-exempted FLSA status; salary will be established annually by the School Board.
