About this role

The Interstate 35 Community School is seeking a candidate to join our amazing High School Team. We have an opening for an Anticipated HS Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. These candiates would focus on delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction for physical science and biology to our high school students. They would also maintain a positive classroom environment for each student, and be able to collaborate with their colleagues and parents.

• Knowledge/Skills:

• Strong content knowledge in high school science subjects, which includes physical science, and biology.

• Ability to use data to inform instructional decisions and differentiate instruction for diverse learners.

• Effective communication skills with students, parents, and staff.

• Instructional Delivery:

• Design, implement, and assess engaging lesson plans that align with Iowa Core Standards for high school science.

• Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on activities, laboratory experiments, and technology, to accommodate different learning styles.

• Foster scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

• Classroom Management:

• Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters mutual respect and collaboration.

• Develop and enforce classroom rules and behavioral expectations in alignment with school and district policies.

• Assessment and Evaluation:

• Continually monitor and evaluate student progress through formal and informal assessments.

• Provide timely and measurable feedback on student work and maintain accurate records of grades and attendance.

• Communicate student progress to parents and guardians regularly.

• Collaboration and Professional Growth:

• Work collaboratively with colleagues, specialists, and support staff to enhance the overall educational experience.

• Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, and ongoing professional development activities.
