Special Education Associate/Para Educator 2026/2027 School Year The Interstate 35 Community School District is seeking energetic, caring and compassionate individuals to join our outstanding Special Education team. We are currently accepting applications for Special Education Associates/Para Educators for the 2026-2027 school year. Job Goal: A Special Education Associate/Para Educator provides support to the classroom teacher and students in the area of instruction, recreation, classroom organization and maintenance, record keeping and home/community relations. The associate works collaboratively with teachers and staff to support student learning, development, and success. Qualifications:
• High School Diploma and at least 18 year of age.
• Ability to communication effectively with students, parents, staff and administration
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Demonstrated patience, compassion, and a willingness to support students with diverse learning needs.
Essential Functions:
• Provide specialized supports and services to students and/or staff.
• Attend required meetings and professional development activities.
• Provide individualized assistance to students, particularly those who are experiencing academic or behavioral difficulties.
• Provide one-to-one support and reinforcement to students who need additional assistance.
• Assist with the supervision of students who require close or continuous supervisor.
• Work with small groups of students in areas of mathematics and reading, providing enrichment or additional support as needed.
• Assist in the classroom when the teacher is working with another group of students.
• Provide assistance with larger classroom or school projects that require additional support.
• Perform clerical duties, such as duplicating materials, checking papers, and other tasks, when school is not in session.
• Assist students with writing assignments by reinforcing spelling, punctuation, grammar, and other writing skills.
• Help students develop organizational skills following teacher instruction.
• Provide assistance with seatwork and reinforce skills following teacher instruction.
• Support a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all students.
