WAYLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR JOB POSTING Title: Food Service Worker – Wayland Middle School Position Summary: Wayland Public Schools is seeking a reliable and collaborative Food Service Worker to join the food service team at the Wayland Middle School. Under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager, the Food Service Worker will assist with food preparation, meal service, cashiering, sanitation, and daily kitchen operations. The successful candidate will work cooperatively with supervisors, co-workers, students, teachers, and other staff members while maintaining high standards for food safety and service. Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to):
• Prepare raw and cooked foods, including foods needed for daily meal service.
• Prepare and heat foods to be served to students and staff.
• Prepare salads and sandwiches.
• Serve food appropriately and follow established serving sizes.
• Assist with all required lunch set-ups.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and appropriately.
• Operate the cashiering system and maintain a working knowledge of the MOSAIC POS system.
• Follow established food safety and sanitation standards.
• Assist with all aspects of daily kitchen clean-up.
• Follow proper food storage and temperature requirements.
• Comply with the district's HACCP program.
• Prepare foods, as needed, for students and staff with allergies or other dietary restrictions.
• Know the location and proper use of fire safety equipment.
• Follow nutrition standards for the School Breakfast Program and National School Lunch Program.
• Rotate through various food service responsibilities and maintain knowledge of assigned areas.
• Participate in required staff development programs, including 4–6 hours of training as required.
• Work cooperatively with supervisors, co-workers, students, teachers, and other staff members.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Previous food service experience preferred, but not required.
• Certifications: ServSafe Certification, Allergy Awareness Certification, and Heartsaver CPR Certification preferred.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and reach a minimum of 30 pounds.
• Food Safety: Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, food temperatures, and kitchen safety preferred.
• Cultural Competency: Experience working with diverse populations and a strong commitment to Wayland's goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Professionalism: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with students, staff, supervisors, and co-workers. Education and Experience:

Work Schedule and Compensation:
• Hours: 20-25 hours per week.
