JOB TITLE: School Bus Driver REPORTS TO: Transportation Services Manager JOB DESCRIPTION: School bus drivers transport students to and from school, as well as, to and from special events such as field trips. School bus drivers are responsible for keeping to a specific route schedule while keeping passenger safety the highest priority. RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Following the planned route and schedule for departure times and stops
• Being alert to traffic and weather conditions to ensure passenger safety
• Regularly checking vehicle safety through pre-trip and post trip inspections and consistent monitoring of vehicle condition while driving
• Monthly reporting of fuel consumption and mileage
• Responding to emergency and non-emergency situations
• Reporting delays, accidents, and emergencies
• Enforcing conduct and safety rules on the bus
• Maintaining a clean vehicle, including a weekly washing, sweeping, and dusting
REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma/GED preferred
• Excellent driving skills
• Clean driving record
• Ability to pass physical and drug test
• Must obtain required clearances
• Experience working with children preferred
• Patience
• Excellent communication skills
REQUIREMENT OR WILLING TO OBTAIN THROUGH GM TRAINING:
• Class B CDL
• Passenger and school bus endorsements and air-brake restriction lifted
