POSITION: Math Specialist beginning 2026-2027 SY QUALIFICATIONS:
• Massachusetts Certi?cation in Elementary Mathematics preferred
• Approximately 5 years of classroom teaching appropriate to level of position.
• Such alternatives to the above quali?cations as the School Committee may ?nd appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal JOB GOAL: To help provide the kind of instruction and learning environment that will enable each student to master the mathematics skills appropriate to age, grade level and individual capacity. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Meet the performance responsibility expectations of classroom teachers at appropriate grade levels. Specialized Teaching Skills
• Administer diagnostic tests and evaluate math skills of new students and others referred by sta?.
• Analyze school math test scores.
• Work with classroom teachers and children in the school mathematics program.
• Provides direct consultative help and training to sta?.
• Outside the regular classroom, teach individuals and small groups of children not able to succeed in the regular classroom math program.
• Prepare and conduct in-service programs on math.
• Orient new teachers to the math program of the school and assist as necessary.
• Assist sta? in selecting and evaluating materials for math.
• Provide suggestions for enrichment programs in math for gifted/talented children.
• Meet with parents/guardians to discuss the school's math program.
• Keep abreast of new developments in math techniques, materials, and evaluation and inform sta?.
• Attend appropriate math workshops and conventions.
• Orient substitute teachers to school's math program and assist as necessary.
• Such other duties as assigned by Principal.
