About this role
The Clerk Typist position is a full-time Civil Service Competitive position for a clerical staff member to serve as clerical support reporting directly to the Transportation Supervisor. This clerk typist will offer clerical support to the Transportation Department as the District carries out the Board of Education goals, mission and vision as well as New York State initiatives. Scope of Responsibilities:
• Answer phone and assist parents, staff members, Transportation Supervisor with questions and concerns
• Dispatches vehicles and contacts substitute bus drivers and attendants when required.
• Monitor and maintain all records relative to safe pupil transportation, which includes public, non-public and special needs students for in and out of district schools using a computerized bus routing system.
• Maintain computerized fueling system. Produce daily, monthly and annual reports.
• Generate purchase orders for materials and supplies that support the Transportation Department
• Edit and update building plans and office records
• Generate supply orders for Transportation Department
• Monitor and Maintain records of special trip bus mileage
• Process and maintain child care information
• Generate field trip cards and maintain accurate directions to specific destinations.
• Maintain up-to-date electronic records as needed to generate accurate billing for field trips.
• Maintain up-to-date electronic records as needed to generate accurate BOCES fuel billing
• Maintain up-to-date electronic records as needed to generate annual and bi-annual mileage reports.
• Maintain up-to-date electronic records on biometric time clock system for payroll & attendance
• Generate monthly school calendars
• Coordinate and disseminate correspondence of school bus disciplinary records
• Serve as a resource/liaison departmental Training Team and Safety Team.
• Maintain distribute departmental mail
• Attend workshops that support job performance
• Generate and properly disseminate field trip, community education, extra work, late, and emergency trips.
• Assist Transportation Supervisor and Building Principal or Administrator with process for viewing surveillance videos from school buses.
• Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor or during emergencies.
