Job Title: Full-time Grounds/Maintenance Reports To: Director of Buildings/Grounds Location: District Pay Schedule/Range: $23.93/hr – PTO/Medical/Dental Insurance Hours: 6:45 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. Prepared/Revised Date: July 13, 2026 SUMMARY: Responsible for the general upkeep, protection and care of district buildings and property. The employee performs functions including a variety of general maintenance, grounds, carpentry, electrical, masonry, plumbing, welding and fabricating duties in support of District-wide operations to ensure a safe, healthy, and clean learning environment for students, staff, and the public. QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have custodial experience

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs

• Must be detailed and results orientated with strong written, interpersonal, and communication skills

• Must have knowledge of basic building repairs (general maintenance, electric, and plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, painting, and automotive maintenance)

• Must be able to repair small engines

• Must be able to operate small and large lawn equipment

• Must be able to drive a truck with snow plow and other snow removal equipment

• Must be able to perform routine maintenance around buildings, such as window repair, door repair, drywall repair, etc.

• Must have a valid driver's license

• Must have knowledge of OHSA and Health/Life Safety regulations

• Must have the ability to fix safety hazards as they arise

• Must be available to work overtime as needed before and/or after shift

• Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs to reduce risk of future issues is a plus

• Knowledge of Building Automation Systems is a plus

• Certification/Journeymanship in HVAC or any trade is preferred

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• 1 Year of maintenance experience preferred

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:

• Valid driver's license

• Criminal background check required for hire; employment contingent on appropriate results

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

• Basic oral and written communication skills

• English language skills

• Basic problem solving skills

• Ability to acquire skills necessary to operate various types of cleaning equipment

• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changes as required

• Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies, and building and department procedures

• Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all people, including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds

• Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:

• Operating knowledge of basic custodial equipment preferred at hire; required within 180 working days after entering position

• Basic operating knowledge of computers and office software

• Basic operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear, taste, smell. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. There is a high probability that contact with blood-borne waste will occur within daily duties. All duties and procedures are to be performed with health safety standards as established by local and state OSHA and District emergency procedures. MENTAL FUNCTIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, compare, and evaluate. The employee is frequently required to analyze, compute, synthesize, use interpersonal skills, and compile. The employee is occasionally required to coordinate, instruct, and negotiate.
