About this role

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Speech Language Pathologist license from the MA Board of Registration of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology

• Master's degree in speech-language pathology from a program accredited by ASHA

• Massachusetts DESE Educator's License for Speech, Language, and Hearing Disorders (or acquired within 1 year of employment)

• Speech Clinical Fellow working toward the above qualifications may be considered

PREFERRED:

• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology

• Experience working with students in a school setting with academic, behavioral, and/or emotional challenges, learning or developmental disabilities, or autism preferred.

Work year: School year (183 days including 3 professional development days) REPORTS TO: Director of Therapy Services or his/her designee RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct student screenings and comprehensive evaluations related to the student's access to the educational environment including interpreting and clearly communicating results and recommendations

• Participate in the IEP/504 process including team meetings

• Design, utilize, and implement intervention plans based on established best practices and documented research-based evidence

• Intervene in in the least restrictive environment to support student participation and achievements, as appropriate

• Evaluate and modify individual student interventions as necessary to address student needs and access to the educational environment and curriculum

• Report progress related to annual goals and objectives, and make appropriate modifications to interventions as needed

• Implement various models of school-based service delivery such as Response to Intervention (RTI), consultation, group and individual services

• Work effectively with diverse student populations

• Consult with colleagues, school personnel, parents, and students

• Coordinate with all specialists (OT, PT, Teachers,Behavior, Adaptive PE, Assistive Technology Team) to provide a comprehensive service delivery program for each child.

• Provide training and consultation for staff and families regarding SLP services and interventions

• Provide supervision for speech-language therapy assistants, if applicable

• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of speech-language therapy services

• Caseload assignment is based on SSEC needs, and may change at any time including location of service delivery (which may include, but is not limited to school, communty, and/or home settings)

• Follow direction of program director/coordinator/principal where assigned including procedures and protocols

• Schedule and prioritize assigned caseload

• May require the use of a personal automobile for travel between school sites, home, and clinic visits

• Physically manage and/or lift students when necessary

• Participate in all required in-service training

• Follow all policies and procedures as established by the South Shore Educational Collaborative

• Use de-escalation and physical management procedures as prescribed in SSEC-approved Welle training program as needed and appropriate

• Maintain confidentiality regarding information for all SSEC staff, students, and their families.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the program director/coordinator.

Mandatory participation in all of the following SSEC-sponsored training to include but not limited to:

• Successful completion of SSEC-approved Welle training, full and/or recertification annually as appropriate.

• Maintain active CPR/First Aid certification.

• Successful completion of all SSEC-approved threat assessment training.
