LEOMINSTER PUBLIC SCHOOLS LEOMINSTER HIGH SCHOOL SCHOOL SECURITY PERSONNEL 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR The School Security Personnel position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure school environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role includes operating security screening equipment, monitoring school premises, and providing a visible security presence throughout the school day. Key Responsibilities
• Operate and monitor weapons detection system during student arrival and as needed.
• Perform regular patrols of hallways, stairwells, restrooms, cafeteria, exterior grounds, and parking areas.
• Support student supervision and safety in the cafeteria during lunch periods.
• Respond promptly to incidents, disturbances, or safety concerns and notify administration or emergency services as appropriate.
• Assist with emergency procedures, including drills, lockdowns, evacuations, and reunification efforts.
• Collaborate with school administrators, staff, and local law enforcement.
• Enforce school policies and safety procedures.
• Document incidents and maintain accurate security logs and reports.
• Provide assistance to students, staff, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in security, law enforcement, military, or school safety preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) preferred
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
• Familiarity with security screening equipment or willingness to be trained.
• Basic computer and report-writing skills in English.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per shift).
• Ability to patrol indoor and outdoor areas in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb stairs frequently.
• Ability to quickly respond to emergencies, including running short distances.
• Adequate vision and hearing to monitor surroundings and respond to incidents.

Working Conditions
• Work is performed in a school environment with frequent interaction with students.
• Exposure to varying noise levels and active environments (e.g., hallways, cafeteria, vestibule, parking lots).
• May involve de-escalating conflicts or responding to behavioral incidents.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
• Experience with school-based security systems (e.g., cameras, access control, weapon detectors, metal detecting wand).
• Knowledge of school safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
