SUMMARY: The position of Assistive Technology Coordinator is done for the purpose(s) of providing support to staff and students in the area of assistive technologies. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Appropriate Arizona State Credential

• 5 years successful experience working with special education students

• Excellent written and oral communications and presentation skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Masters degree or BA+

• Active in school leadership/committees

• Previous coaching or mentoring experience

• Various grade level experience

• Skilled at working with others in a professional learning environment, including mentoring, and coaching teachers and modeling effective practices

• Self-starter with strong organization and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines

• Willing to accept constructive feedback and reflect on professional practice and implement change when necessary

Such alternatives to the above required & preferred qualifications as the Superintendent/Designee may find appropriate and acceptable ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serves as a resource to schools

• Trains students with disabilities in assistive technologies

• Attends specific meetings as requested

• Conducts observations in order to aid in the development of providing assistive technology in order to access curriculum at the school environment

• Demonstrates knowledge of special education

• Conducts and or refers students for assistive technology evaluations

• Coordinates and dialogues with Educational Services Department regarding assistive technology as it applies to materials and textbook adoptions

• Creates and maintains district inventory of materials and check out procedures

• Gathers data for the district regarding assistive technology use and needs

• Monitors and adjusts assistive technology during trial periods to select the appropriate technology

• Provides professional development to staff in buildings regarding assistive technology tools and how to implement

• Prepares and maintains records and reports as required for compliance with various state, federal and administrative regulations

• Work with teachers on an individual and group basis to provide staff development in the use of technology as a learning tool

• Organize in-services, scheduling and preparing for various groups

• Design and conduct district professional development classes

• Perform such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent/Designee

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the Board policy or evaluation of professional personnel. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several concrete variables LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret education materials and programs; ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers, students, administration, and the community. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical such as probability and statistical inference; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
