• Two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester

hours of college work), OR

• An associate's degree (or higher), OR

• Passed the WorkKeys Test (Bronze +), ParaPro Assessment (455 +) or

the OGET Job Goal: Support assigned teacher to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the classroom. Employment Terms: 172 days x 7 hours (1204 hours) FLSA Classification: Non exempt Evaluation: Annually by building principal Physical Demands: This is an overview identification of physical functions—intended for compliance with the ADA – it is not an exhaustive list of the duties to be performed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Note - these duties vary based upon the assigned grade and individual student needs. Typical duties may include:

• Assist teacher in planning and implementing daily and long range lessons.

• Prepare papers, copies, materials, bulletin boards, etc.

• Maintain attendance and other paperwork.

• Supervise students during meal times, transition periods and recess. Escort students to/from classes, office, restrooms, etc.

• Monitor student behavior and intervene when needed, including notifying other officials of unique needs of individual students.

• Conduct learning exercises with small groups of students.

• Maintain the classroom in an organized manner.

• Serve as a substitute teacher when needed.

• Monitor testing as needed.

• Assist nurse when needed.

• Utilize professional behavior in all school related interactions.

• Comply with all federal, state and local laws and board policies and procedures.

• Perform all other tasks as supervisor may assign.
