Area 31 Career Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Assisting Instructor to join our Health Science team. This full-time position involves teaching dual credit courses through Ivy Tech Community College, specifically Health Careers, Medical Terminology, Essentials of Anatomy & Physiology, and CCMA Workforce Development Prep (CCMA certification course) to high school students enrolled in our pre-nursing program. This is an excellent opportunity for a healthcare professional passionate about education and committed to preparing the next generation of medical assistants and healthcare workers. Key Responsibilities:
• Teach Ivy Tech dual credit courses: Health Careers, Medical Terminology, Essentials of Anatomy & Physiology, and CCMA Workforce Development Prep
• Develop engaging, relevant lessons aligned with state standards and college-level curriculum.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, skill development, and career readiness.
• Assess student performance and provide meaningful feedback to guide growth.
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the success of Area 31's Health Science programs.
• Serve as a role model for professionalism in the healthcare field.
• Support students in preparing for college and/or entry-level health care certifications.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum of two years of direct work experience either as a medical assistant or as an RN/LPN in an ambulatory care setting performing the administrative, clinical, and laboratory duties
• Holds certification or licensure in a healthcare discipline providing direct patient care or services. (CCMA, CMA, RMA)
• Possesses a two-year or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution with:
• Relevant Medical Terminology coursework
• Relevant Anatomy and Physiology coursework
• Willingness and eligibility to complete the Indiana Workplace Specialist License in Health Science during the first year of employment (support provided).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience in teaching, training, or mentoring students or healthcare staff.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• A passion for career and technical education and student success.
