At this time a vacancy exists for a Skilled - General Maintenance Worker within the Norristown Area School District. JOB SUMMARY To perform skilled maintenance and repair tasks across district facilities, ensuring safe, functional, and well-maintained buildings. The Skilled General Maintenance person will apply expertise in general construction, welding, carpentry, masonry, and overall building repair to support daily operations, planned projects, and emergency repairs. This role is vital in maintaining the structural integrity, appearance, and safety of school district properties, contributing to a positive environment for students, staff, and the community. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks across district buildings and facilities.

• Complete work orders related to carpentry, masonry, welding, and general construction in a timely and professional manner.

• Construct, install, and repair walls, ceilings, floors, windows, doors, roofs, and cabinetry.

• Perform masonry tasks such as patching, brickwork, and concrete work.

• Operate welding equipment to fabricate or repair metal structures, fencing, and fixtures as needed.

• Maintain and repair building structures including stairs, ramps, partitions, and other permanent fixtures.

• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications to complete assigned projects.

• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, safety regulations, and district standards.

• Assist with inspections of buildings and grounds to identify maintenance needs and potential hazards.

• Support snow removal and emergency response efforts during inclement weather or facility-related incidents.

• Safely operate hand and power tools, ladders, lifts, and other equipment.

• Collaborate with the maintenance foreman and other trades personnel to coordinate work schedules and project timelines.

• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks.

• Provide guidance or support to less experienced staff when needed.

• Respond to emergency maintenance requests outside of normal work hours, as assigned.

• Assist in handling emergencies associated with all physical plants.

• Responsible for maintaining records and reports requested by the Operations Department for weekend building checks.

• Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.

• Perform all duties of custodian and duties assigned by the Manager of Custodians.

• Responsible for communicating with the supervisor verbally or in writing if any problems occur during the shift (if the communication is in writing, an email or digital request should be left with the operations supervision and administrators explaining the nature of the problem).

The Skilled - General Maintenance worker will be required to follow any and all other job-related instructions and perform any other job-related duties requested by the foreman, supervisors in the operations departments, director of operations and the Chief Operations Officer.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma Beneficial.

• Minimum of four years experience with skilled building maintenance.

• Able to plan work schedules and coordinate work activities.

• Able to work with little or no supervision.

• Able to work cooperatively with others.

• Good communication skills.

• Bilingual in Spanish Preferred

CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES

• Valid Pennsylvania State Driver's License

• Act 34 – Criminal History Clearance

• Act 151 – Child Abuse History Clearance

SHIFT HOURS 12 Month Position 7AM-3PM PAY RATE $39.07 (ACCORDING TO EANA SUPPORT FINAL WAGE SCHEDULE)
