POSITION: School Psychologist (.5 Non Benefit Eligible) JOB GOAL: To help children and youth succeed academically, socially, and emotionally; to collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students that strengthen connections between home and school. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Completion of a master's degree or higher in school psychology.
• Licensed as a school psychologist in Massachusetts.
• Nationally certified school psychologist (NCSP) by the National Association of School Psychologists (preferred)
REPORTS TO: School Psychology Department Head PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Use consultation skills to collaborate with school staff, parents and staff.
• Integrates data for problem solving.
• Demonstrates assessment skills that include:
• knowledge of background information pertinent to the case.
• cognitive assessments based on the case.
• achievement assessments when appropriate.
• curriculum based assessment.
• behavioral assessments and threat assessments.
• attention, social and emotional functioning.
• structured observations
• instructional recommendations.
• knowledge of assessment and measurement issues.
• the ability to analyze, synthesize, and interpret data.
• well written reports completed within regulation timelines.
• Data supported, research based recommendations
• the ability to verbally communicate assessment results.
• Is knowledgeable of and demonstrates researched based intervention skills related to academic, behavioral, adjustment, and crisis needs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of research based prevention skills.
• Demonstrates knowledge of federal and state educational recommendations.
• Demonstrates the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity, with emphasis on differences in abilities, modes of contribution, and social and cultural backgrounds, especially when evaluating students with diverse backgrounds.
• Communicates regularly with the principal, school council, and/or other school advisory committees.
• May hold team meeting leader responsibilities.
• Fulfills all professional responsibilities.
