About this role
Under the direction of the Workforce Development Coordinator, the Career Transition Specialist will provide soft skills workshops and coaching to adults enrolled in GLTS technical trainings, and take a lead role in trainee outreach, eligibility assessment and enrollment. This is a critical role to facilitate the successful transition for GLTS adult trainees from education to employment. The Career Transition Specialist will implement programming alongside GLTS technical trainings to ensure adult trainees have a career plan, employability skills, and the resiliency needed for job placement success and long-term job retention. Responsibilities include:
• Leading soft skill workshops in GLTS adult technical trainings to instill the job seeking skills and resources and confidence necessary for trainees to pursue career pathway employment
• Coaching to build persistence in training, job search, and job retention.
• Managing resources to support trainees in overcoming obstacles
• Leading the candidate outreach, eligibility assessment and acceptance process to make sure adults who are enrolled are positioned for success
• Assisting the workforce team in managing all training logistics
• Identifying and coordinating with partners to drive innovation in GLTS programming
• Identifying areas to drive efficiency in program implementation, evaluation and reporting
The Career Transitions Specialist is a key member of the Workforce Development Department and may collaborate with the team in the following areas:
• Grant preparation, management, and reporting.
• Managing operations of short-term workforce development supports programs.
• Assisting with the After Dark high school program.
• Other duties as assigned.
This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule that will include at least 2 evenings per week during the school year. Position is grant funded. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree preferred. Two years of professional experience in career counselling, human resources, school admissions or similar position.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Driver's License and reliable transportation
SKILLS AND ABILITY:
• Bilingual Spanish / English preferred. Knowledge / experience in the construction trades preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace. Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills are a must.

• Physical Demands: Minimal to light physical effort is generally required in performing duties in an office and classroom environment. This position may require the ability to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment at efficient speed and for lengthy periods of time, as well as stand before a class and teach multiple classes in one day. Must be able to walk the entire school building each day.
