Applications are invited for a 3‑year fixed‑term postdoctoral position in the Mathematics Department at the University of Warwick, working on Prof. M. Pollicott’s EPSRC Open Fellowship, “Computational Ergodic Theory, Hyperbolic Geometry and Spectral Theory.” This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a new research programme in close collaboration with experienced researchers in the field.

The successful candidate will work closely with Prof. Mark Pollicott and members of the Ergodic Theory group, while also having scope to pursue independent research and develop their own academic profile.

The starting date is 1st July 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with strong research potential, and prior familiarity with some or all of the following areas:

Spectral Geometry Dynamical Systems or Ergodic Theory Geometry or Analysis Numerical Computation and programming

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and motivated scientist who will contribute to this research programme.

You will have excellent communication and presentation skills, and be comfortable talking about your work with academics from other disciplines and non-specialists. You will have a record of research papers published in journals (or accepted to be published). You will have a high capacity for original research and creative thought, as well as the ability to manage your time effectively across multiple strands of research.

PhD Status

If you are near submission of your PhD, or have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made at Research Assistant level, at the highest spinal point of pay grade 5 (£34,610 per annum).

Upon receipt of evidence confirming the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow, at the lowest spinal point of grade 6 (£35,608 per annum).
