<p><strong>PURPOSE OF THE JOB</strong></p> <p>The convoy surveyor is in charge to implement and manage :</p> <ul> <li>Carry out any and all site survey duties. Details of these duties shall be given in the various Method Statements.</li> <li>Report to the Track Survey Manager any discrepancies or variations between design data and site conditions whenever such are encountered.</li> <li>Surveyors shall hold a recognized diploma in Surveying (or acceptable equivalent) or be able to show relevant trackwork surveying experience.</li> <li>Be responsible for ensuring safety is integral to all survey works carried out by his team</li> <li>Maintain discipline of Chainmen under his charge</li> <li>Liaise daily with Construction department site Superintendents to determine minor adjustments to survey requirements and reports these to the Survey Manager</li> <li>Carry out necessary office calculations relating to his team's work as required</li> <li>Follow defined survey methodology and advise management if improvements can be made</li> <li>Be responsible for ensuring instrumentation under his carry is properly maintained and calibrated</li> </ul> <p><strong>ORGANISATION</strong></p> <p><strong><u>Organisation structure (job belongs to...)</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Track Construction</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Reports directly to:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Track Survey Manager</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Direct reports:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Chainman</li> </ul> <p><strong>Network & Links </strong></p> <p><strong><u>Internal</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Track Survey Manager</li> <li>Construction Management</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>External</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Civil Works survey</li> <li>3rd parties survey sub contractors</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong> </strong></p> <p> </p><p><strong>MAIN RESPONSABILITIES</strong></p> <ul> <li>Prepare and verify the topographical and control survey data prior to the convoy.</li> <li>Conduct pre-convoy checks on reference points, digital terrain models (DTM), and alignment files for Appitrack or Slipform equipment.</li> <li>Operate and monitor survey instruments (e.g., total stations, GNSS systems, robotic stations) during convoy activities.</li> <li>Perform real-time track alignment control, ensuring compliance with geometric tolerances and design specifications.</li> <li>Adjust and update reference lines and coordinate systems as required during operation.</li> <li>Support the construction team by providing on-the-spot survey data and reports for quality assurance.</li> <li>Ensure proper documentation of surveying activities, deviations, and corrective actions.</li> <li>Liaise with engineers, machine operators, and quality control teams to ensure coordinated operations.</li> <li>Maintain and calibrate survey equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance.</li> <li>Apply and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards throughout all surveying tasks.</li> </ul> <p><u>Primary Control Verification</u>:</p> <ul> <li>Verify the engineering grid provided by the Owner using geodetic (primary) control points.</li> <li>Assess the accuracy and reliability of the primary control network.</li> <li>Prepare and submit detailed reports on the status and precision of the primary control network.</li> <li>Perform verification operations twice in the first year and annually thereafter.</li> </ul> <p><u>Secondary Control Establishment:</u></p> <ul> <li>Establish and maintain a secondary control network based on the verified primary control points.</li> <li>Ensure the secondary network meets the precision requirements for construction activities.</li> <li>Coordinate with construction teams to ensure proper use and maintenance of control points.</li> </ul><p><strong>MAIN REQUIRED COMPETENCES</strong></p> <p><strong>Educational Requirements<em> </em></strong></p> <p><strong>Mandatory:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Degree or diploma in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.</li> <li>Experience operating and interpreting data for Appitrack or Slipform track-laying systems is essential. <p><strong>Desirable:</strong></p> </li> <li>Experience operating and interpreting data for Appitrack or Slipform track-laying systems is essential.</li> <li> <p>Proficient in surveying software (e.g., Trimble Business Centre, Leica Captivate, AutoCAD Civil 3D)</p> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Experience </strong></p> <p><strong>Mandatory:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum 5 years of experience in railway or linear infrastructure projects.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desirable:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Solid understanding of railway alignment principles and tolerances</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Competencies & Skills</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Strong problem-solving and communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to work night shifts, weekends, or under tight deadlines during convoy operations.</li> <li>Fluency in English both written and spoken.</li> <li>Valid driving license preferred.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Location: The job location is in northern Israel.</strong></p>
