About this role

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Audiologist to join our friendly team.

In this role, the successful candidate will perform all aspects of Band 5 work with the Adult and Paediatric audiology service.

This will include appropriate assessment, treatment and managing directly referred patients, providing aural (re)habilitation and care for hearing aid users and those with associated audiological conditions i.e. tinnitus. You will also provide audiology support to ENT. You will also lead unaided school age clinics, following local protocols such as the OME pathway.

We are a friendly and supportive department who invest in training our team. We offer training opportunities including apprenticeships and the Scientific Training Programme (STP) in audiology. There may be scope for professional development for the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job

Routine aspects of all adult audiological work within the department including clinics at peripheral sites and domiciliary visiting.

Perform procedures without supervision:

Daily calibration of equipment

Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA) on adults and school aged children

Tympanometry

Otoacoustic Emissions (DP and TE)

Fitting and verification of hearing aids in adults, using REM

Troubleshooting issues from adult patients with hearing aids

Aural (re)habilitation including basic tinnitus management

Management of children with glue ear and post grommet insertion follow up, following relevant local pathways

Ability to accurately and appropriately explain results to patients and write clinical report7

Ensure a Person Centred, Family Friendly ethos is followed with all patient interactions

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

BSc in Audiology or equivalent experience / qualification Registered with HCPC or AHCS BAA/BSA membership

Experience Essential

Substantive experience in a clinical role

Desirable

Experience of school age audiological clinical assessment

Skills Essential

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of BSA recommended procedures Able to pass on knowledge and practical skills to others

Desirable

Up to date with current NHS hearing aids
