4 Session Salaried GP fixed term contract July 2026 to March 2027, Overton Park Surgery

We are excited to present this fantastic opportunity at Overton Park Surgery in central Cheltenham.

The GPs are supported by a very experienced and cohesive clinical and clerical team, enabling them to enjoy a well-managed workload and time to further their personal professional development. GPSI candidates are especially welcomed with the opportunity offered to run specialist clinics if required.

This is a fixed term contract until the end of March 2027, to improve access and to help provide capacity for mostly on the day appointments.

Main duties of the job

4 sessions a week available

Practice population circa 13,000 patients

Friendly and cohesive existing team

Comprehensive clinical and clerical support

Session structure mostly same day appointments

No usual Dr list much reduced letters, chronic disease, blood results and prescription management

Flexible working arrangements

Regular team meetings, we endeavour to check in on each other during the day, preferably with coffee and cake.

About us

Overton Park Surgery is a busy GP practice based in central Cheltenham. We are a training practice with a strong learning culture, a supportive clinical team consisting of 7 GP Partners, 6 Salaried GPs, pharmacist, practice nurses, HCAs, GPAs and PCN ARRS staff.

The practice has an excellent reputation in Cheltenham and staff turnover is low.

Job description Job responsibilities

a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b. The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

d. Effective management of long-term conditions

e. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

f. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles

g. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

h. Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

i. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

j.Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

k. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

l. Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including; clinical governance, training, financial management and HR

m. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

n. Prepare and complete the revalidation process

o. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

p. Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines

q. Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

r. Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times

s. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Experience of working in a primary care environment Experience of continued professional development Experience of QOF and clinical audit General understanding of the GMS contract

Clinical Knowledge & Skills Essential

Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills Excellent communication skills (written and oral) Strong IT skills Clear, polite telephone manner Competent in the use of Office and Outlook Effective time management (Planning & Organising) Ability to work as a team member and autonomously Excellent interpersonal skills Problem solving & analytical skills Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure Experience with clinical risk management

Desirable

TPP Systmone Experience with audit and able to lead audit programmes

Qualifications Essential

Qualified GP MRCGP Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT) Full GMC Registration National Performers List registration Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU) Eligibility to practice in the UK independently

Desirable

Experience of medicines management Experience of ICB/NHSE initiatives
