About this role

The University of Liverpool, in partnership with NHS England Northwest and University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, has developed an exciting opportunity for clinical academic training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with the potential to excel in both clinical and academic training. The prospective NIHR Clinical Lecturer will join our team of specialists in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and their academic work will be aligned with goals of the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health.

Academic Training:

The academic component of the programme will be overseen by Professor Shakila Thangaratinam and Professor John Allotey, along with senior clinical academics, Dr Andy Sharp and Dr Abi Merriel. The academic training will include the development of sustainable research that aligns with the University’s research strategy. The candidate will have opportunities to be engaged research within ongoing programmes, including the women’s health theme in the NIHR NorthWest Coast Applied Research Collaboration (ARC). The academic component will support the ACL to develop funding applications to continue postdoctoral research and further develop research skills in disciplines relevant to their chosen field. The ACL will be expected to publish impactful research and develop a portfolio of activity leading to an independent research profile.

The post is available on a fixed term basis for four years or earlier, if CCT date is before that date.

You must hold a research doctorate (PhD) or equivalent in a relevant subject area by the time you take up the post.
