About this role

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Research Technician to join our dynamic cancer research team at the University of Liverpool.

Our research focuses on understanding how interactions between cancer cells and the immune system influence tumour progression, metastasis, and response to therapy. As a Research Technician, you will play a key role in supporting a range of innovative research projects aimed at advancing our understanding of cancer biology and improving patient outcomes.

You will work with advanced technologies, pre-clinical tumour models, and patient-derived samples, contributing directly to high-impact translational research.

Key responsibilities

Perform and support laboratory-based research using a range of molecular and cellular biology techniques Analyse tumour samples from pre-clinical models and patients samples using a variety of technologies including multiplex staining, flow/mass cytometry, transcriptomics and proteomics as needed. Contribute to data analysis, record-keeping, and laboratory organisation

About you

The ideal candidate will have experience in core laboratory techniques, including:

Tissue staining (IHC and/or IF) Flow cytometry Mammalian cell culture RNA isolation

You will be enthusiastic, organised, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.

The environment

The successful candidate will join a vibrant and collaborative laboratory within the Department of Molecular and Clinical Cancer Medicine and the Institute of Systems, Molecular & Integrative Biology (ISMIB). ISMIB provides access to state-of-the-art shared facilities that support cutting-edge research.

You will have the opportunity to interact and collaborate with scientists and clinicians from diverse disciplines, both within and beyond the department, and contribute to research spanning cancer biology and the analysis of patient samples.

Duration: 3 years (full-time, 1.0 FTE) Start date: 1 September 2026 End date: 31 August 2029 Extension: Subject to availability of funding This post may be combined with PhD study
