The IPAC Lead works collaboratively with all departments to ensure compliance with provincial standards, government mandates, and best practices while fostering a culture of safety for residents, staff, visitors, and volunteers.The successful candidate reports directly to the Director of Care (DOC) and Site Lead.What We OfferFull-time, permanent employmentMonday to Friday scheduleWeekends as requiredAnnual salary of $90,000Group benefits following successful completion of the probationary periodPension plan following successful completion of the probationary periodSupportive leadership environmentOpportunity to make a meaningful impact on resident safety and quality of carePosition SummaryThe IPAC Lead is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of Glen Haven Manor's comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control Program.This role provides leadership across the entire organization-not just the nursing department-to ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, standards, and best practices related to infection prevention and outbreak management. The IPAC Lead serves as the primary resource for infection prevention, chairs the Infection Control Committee, coordinates education initiatives, and works closely with Public Health and other external partners to promote excellence in resident care.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, manage, evaluate, and continuously improve the organization's comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control Program.Review and update IPAC policies, procedures, and protocols annually or as required.Monitor compliance with provincial legislation, government directives, accreditation standards, and IPAC best practices.Conduct and oversee daily infectious disease surveillance, screening, data collection, trend analysis, reporting, and outbreak prevention activities.Review screening results and implement appropriate interventions to prevent and manage outbreaks.Chair the Infection Prevention and Control Committee and provide regular reports to leadership.Act as the primary liaison with Public Health, the Medical Director, leadership, licensing representatives, and other external partners.Coordinate and oversee influenza, COVID-19, and other vaccination programs for residents and staff.Develop and deliver education programs for staff on:Hand hygienePersonal Protective Equipment (PPE)Routine practicesEnvironmental cleaningHigh-touch surface disinfectionDining room and recreation infection prevention practicesOutbreak managementEnsure the organization's hand hygiene program meets all current standards.Support quality improvement initiatives, risk assessments, and infection prevention audits.Oversee PPE and infection prevention supply inventory.Promote infection prevention best practices across all departments, including:NursingDietaryHousekeepingLaundryMaintenanceRecreationServe as the primary infection prevention resource for managers and staff.Support accreditation activities and represent the organization during licensing and accreditation processes related to IPAC.Foster a collaborative, team-oriented culture by providing guidance, mentorship, and support to all departments.QualificationsRequiredCurrent registration and licensure in good standing with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN).Registered Nurs
