Role Overview
We are currently supporting Portsmouth NHS trust with an Endoscopy service.
There are currently 1,600 patients who have exceeded the six-month threshold and require scoping by the end of September, with additional backlog extending through to March 2027.
Service Details subject to change
Start date: 25th July (aiming for)
Running until March 2027
weekends required (weekdays to be added in the future)
Weekdays will be within an operating theatre
Weekends will be within an Endoscopy suite
Pay Rates - PAYE PER DAY
HCA - £240
Main duties of the job
Role Responsibilities
Healthcare Assistants (HCAs)
Admit and prepare patients (check paperwork, baseline observations) Chaperone and support patient dignity and comfort Assist with positioning patients for procedures Support nurses during procedures (non-clinical tasks) Clean trolleys and prepare rooms between cases Transport patients to and from procedure/recovery areas Assist in recovery (monitoring, refreshments, basic care) Stock rooms and ensure consumables are available

Key responsibilities:
Admit and prepare patients, including observations and paperworkSupport patient dignity, comfort, and act as chaperoneAssist with patient positioning and support nurses during proceduresClean trolleys and prepare rooms between casesTransport patients between ward, procedure, and recovery areasAssist in recovery with basic care, monitoring, and refreshmentsMaintain stock levels and ensure clinical areas are well preparedDetails:

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Must have experience working within an Endoscopy unit.
