Main duties of the job As a Healthcare Assistant at The Spinney in Atherton, your career will be fulfilling, with opportunities for training and development, in a supportive team built on kindness and teamwork. The role involves providing care for male patients with personality disorders and/or mental illness, helping them towards recovery and a fulfilled life. Day-to-day tasks include ward rounds, behavioral analysis, adapting care, updating patient records, and supporting overall patient needs, such as personal hygiene. The environment may be challenging, requiring a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and vigilance; however, it is rewarding to see patient improvement. What you will be doing
You will join an inclusive and supportive team that works well together to provide care to people withmale patients with personality disorder and/or mental illness., using your knowledge and skills to help people along their recover pathway towards leading a valued and fulfilled life.
Your day-to-day will include ward rounds, analysing behaviours and adapting care accordingly with colleagues, updating patient records, and providing overall care and support, which may include assisting with personal hygiene.
It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of your involvement, knowing that you’ve made someone’s life better.
Where you will be working
Location: Everest Road, Atherton, Manchester, M46 9NT
You will be working at The Spinney, a service which offer a range of care settings for male patients with personality disorder and/or mental illness. The purpose-built medium, low secure and rehabilitation wards, as well as a psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) are all set within an 11 acre site with extensive woodland and landscaped areas.
You will be working alongside a multidisciplinary team at The Spinney who have previously been recognised by the Association of Psychological Therapies (APT) for their ability to reinforce positive behaviour, prevention of challenging behaviour and successful interventions in a secure care setting.

Prior experience as a Healthcare Assistant and a passion for delivering compassionate care.
