We are looking for a friendly, organised and motivated Medical Receptionist to join our busy NHS General Practice team. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a key role in delivering an efficient, professional and compassionate reception and administrative service.

Main duties of the job
Welcome patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.Answer telephone calls and respond to patient enquiries.Book, amend and cancel appointments using the clinical system.Signpost patients to the most appropriate healthcare professional or service.Register new patients and update patient records accurately.Process repeat prescription requests in line with practice procedures.Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence.Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with GDPR and NHS policies.Support clinicians and the wider practice team with administrative tasks.Ensure reception and waiting areas remain welcoming and well organised.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong customer service experience. Good IT skills and confidence using computer systems. Ability to prioritise workload and work accurately under pressure. Professional, empathetic and approachable manner. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Desirable
Previous experience working in a GP practice, NHS or healthcare setting. Knowledge of EMIS Web or Docman. Understanding of NHS services and patient pathways.
