Position: Back to School Sales Associate – Temporary Contract

Division: Retail

Positions are available at all store locations, on the St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough campuses – you are applying for a position at the Scarborough* UTSC Campus.

*Paid parking is available on campus as well as access to public transportation.

Here's what you'll be doing ….

We are looking for energetic, outgoing customer service staff who will help us deliver an excellent customer experience. We are planning to hire approximately 100 people across all our store locations for our busy back-to-school RUSH and have a variety of positions available including Floor Staff, Cashiers, and Web Orders Staff from mid-August to late September.

Available shifts will range from 15 to 35 hours per week – including mornings, evenings, and weekends. Hourly rate $18.25.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet and interact with customers both in person and online

• Help students find their course books, school supplies and other merchandise

• Pick merchandise for web orders

• Answer questions, ensuring customers have the information they need

• Operate a point-of-sale (POS) terminal, confidently handling all forms of payment

• Unpack boxes, stocking shelves, and merchandising products

Here's who we are looking for:

• Thoroughly enjoy interacting with people and helping them find what they are looking for

• Hardworking, energetic, positive outlook

• Thrive in a busy environment, comfortable with learning and working in a fast-paced work space

• Dependable - arrive on time for all shifts

• Previous customer service experience is an asset

• Move/lift/handle cartons/product weighing up to 15 kg

• Intellectual curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning is highly valued - a growth mindset

The U of T Bookstore provides many important goods and services to the University of Toronto community. We operate four stores across the three U of T campuses (St. George, Mississauga, Scarborough, and Faculty of Law) and a large online shop that ships Canada-wide and internationally.
