• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience:

• 3-6 months experience. Limited previous experience required in the same or similar positions. The job requires a basic understanding of common methods, practices, and use of forms and routines of a basic nature.

Licenses/Certifications/Special Requirements:

• Valid AZ Driver’s License required upon hire. • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Hourly Rate: $21.46

This position is located at the Peoria Sports Complex – home to the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners Major League baseball clubs for spring training and year-round player development. This thirteen-field, multi-faceted sporting complex hosts numerous tournaments and events throughout the year. The purpose of this position is to perform skilled repair and maintenance to professional baseball fields, landscape and turf areas. This position will be responsible for motivating small work teams for routine baseball maintenance practices and overseeing the facility on weekends and evenings when necessary. Depending on inclement weather and field scheduling this position may require participation on a rotation schedule for after-hours support, which may include evenings, holidays, and weekends. Other duties include completing related tasks as assigned.

The ideal candidate for this position:

• A team player with strong communication skills. • A good working knowledge of maintaining sports/baseball field specifications, common and uncommon techniques, methods, practices and procedures. • Assist in the performance of turf maintenance functions that may include fertilizing, aerating, top dressing, mowing, dethatching, and over seeding depending on assignment. • Comfortable working in an outdoor environment under extreme weather conditions (Heat, Cold, Rain). • Self-motivated and able to work both individually and within a team.
