This position provides classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training, safety education, and operational support while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local, and district transportation regulations.<br>The School Bus Driver Trainer plays a critical role in developing driver competency, improving transportation safety performance, supporting new driver recruitment and retention efforts, and reinforcing operational accountability standards across the district.</p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">MAJOR DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES</H2> </div><div><p>1. Provides behind the wheel instruction training and technical support for new and existing school bus operators required to obtain a class “B” CDL and proper endorsements through Texas Department of Public Safety. Transports students to and from school and extracurricular activities.<br>2. Conduct classroom and behind-the-wheel training for new and existing school bus drivers.<br>3. Provide instruction on transportation safety procedures, district policies, defensive driving, student management, emergency response, and operational expectations.<br>4. Prepare drivers for CDL permit and skills testing requirements.<br>5. Conduct refresher training and remedial instruction as needed.<br>6. Support district initiatives related to transportation safety, operational excellence, and customer service.<br>7. Observe and evaluate driver performance through ride-alongs, field observations, and route monitoring.<br>8. Provide coaching and corrective action recommendations to improve driver performance and compliance.<br>9. Identify unsafe driving behaviors and recommend additional training interventions.<br>10. Assist with accident investigations, post-accident evaluations, and retraining activities.<br>11. Ensure compliance with TEA, DPS, DOT, district, and departmental transportation regulations.</p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">MAJOR DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED</H2> </div><div><p>12. Conduct safety meetings, emergency evacuation drills, and compliance audits.<br>13. Maintain accurate documentation of training records, certifications, evaluations, and compliance activities.<br>14. Monitor driver credential expirations and required certification renewals.<br>15. Assist terminals with route coverage, operational readiness, and driver support when necessary.<br>16. Support recruitment initiatives including driver candidate orientation and onboarding activities.<br>17. Collaborate with Transportation Operations, Safety, Fleet Maintenance, and Human Resources to support district transportation goals.<br>18. Assist in implementing district transportation technology and operational initiatives.<br>19. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.<br>20. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.<br>21.
