Throughout the full school year, the resident works full-time alongside the MT, actively engaging in classroom activities from the start of the residency. The TR gradually assumes greater instructional responsibilities while earning a degree through an HISD university partner, preparing for a successful teaching career.</p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">MAJOR DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES</H2> </div><div><p>List most important duties first<br>1. Fulfill all university program requirements, including class attendance, coursework, and clinical placement.<br>2. Meet all district expectations as outlined in the Employee Handbook, including the district attendance policies. <br>3. Complete teacher certification requirements within established deadlines.<br>4. Participate in district professional development sessions and events.<br>5. Collaborate with the mentor teacher (MT) to co-plan and implement lessons using co-teaching models.<br>6. Identify and address students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs and barriers to learning.<br>7. Maintain high expectations for student behavior and engagement, ensuring accountability.<br>8. Foster a classroom culture of respect, enthusiasm, and positive rapport.<br>9. Manage student behavior during transitions and unstructured times (e.g., recess, lunch).<br>10. Supervise independent work while the MT provides instruction using the co-teach models.<br>11. Support the implementation of a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum that meets the learners’ needs.</p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">MAJOR DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED</H2> </div><div><p>12. Plan lessons backward to align activities and assessments with high standards and curriculum goals.<br>13. Implement and recommend instructional strategies that promote higher-order thinking and personalized learning.<br>14. Implement and recommend assessment practices that accurately measure student progress with mentor teacher guidance and approval.<br>15. Deliver targeted instruction using mentor-provided resources and rubrics to support learning for all students.<br>16. Supervise student practice, projects, and digital learning activities.<br>17. Lead whole-group instruction as appropriate with mentor teacher guidance and approval.<br>18. Participate periodically in instructional planning, data analysis, and improvement efforts.<br>19. Apply and complete all paperwork to be a Registered Apprentice with the Texas Workforce Commission and the Department of Labor. <br>20.
