The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.</span></p><p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt"><strong>Scope of Position:</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Help design, develop, and implement our plant digital and automation strategy potentially across multiple manufacturing plants. This position will lead or play a significant role delivering transformative cost reduction across the plant while improving quality and process capability. An ideal candidate will be capable of learning and implementing the latest vision, digital and automation technology and concepts and work with the operations, supply chain, and finance organizations to deploy projects in manufacturing.</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt"><strong>Key Responsibilities: </strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Design, develop, and implement solutions for manufacturing which leverage latest digital technologies including data analytics and programming technologies. </span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Evaluate existing control strategies and propose enhancements. Optimize or retrofit existing processes through modern control strategies such as optimal control, robust control, adaptive control, or model predictive control.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Work closely with manufacturing to define appropriate controls hardware platforms/systems for implementing process control solutions.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Develop and apply process controls skills to implement solutions in PLC/DCS/BPS (C-based controls) environments.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Develop in-depth knowledge of existing processes to identify process control optimization opportunities and write proposals to initiate control projects.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Work with process subject matter experts and apply process data analysis skills to gain fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Work closely with experienced professionals in multi-disciplined teams to design, develop and implement solutions for manufacturing processes.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Utilize statistical analysis to design for process capability.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Lead projects and work in a multi-disciplinary research, development, and engineering environment to identify opportunities for advanced controls.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Leverage optimization techniques to improve process performance and efficiency.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Facilitate the transfer of new process control technologies into manufacturing and provide training to manufacturing and engineering personnel.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Document process control finding in technical reports. Generate intellectual property through invention disclosures and patent applications.</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt"><strong>Minimum Qualifications: </strong> </span></p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Minimum 1-4 years industry experience (preferred within manufacturing).</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt"><strong>Travel Requirements: </strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Domestic travel up to 10%.</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt"><strong>Work Schedule: </strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Typically 40 hours/week but could be more depending on project requirements.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Typically onsite to benefit from visibility to manufacturing environment with potential schedule-based flexibility</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt"><strong>Required Skills: </strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Programming experience in Python, C/C++ or C#</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Programming-related skills related to or involving web development, Microsoft IIS, Visual Studio, Git</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Analysis/Reporting experience with tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL, PowerBI</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Strong process-oriented mindset, be able to understand process dynamics and design appropriate control scheme.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Strong verbal and written skills, able to prepare and present proposals effectively with and across multiple organizations.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Functions well on projects and team initiatives as well as independent assignments.
