Job tasks include making new, modifying, and repairing manufacturing components. Components made support all internal groups: Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Facilities. Takes an active role in component failure investigation, problem solving, and creating sustainable solutions. Activities will drive toward the plant goals of safety, quality, schedule, and cost.</span></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt"><strong>This position includes significant duties such as:</strong></span></p> <p><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Sets up and operates machine tools such as manual machining equipment (lathes, mills), manual surface grinder, heat treat oven, welder, sheet metal shear and brake to machine or fabricate parts, using hand tools as needed to fit and assemble parts.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Machines, alters, and repairs components to needed specifications from blueprints, old/worn/broken parts, models, hand sketches, or verbal description. Occasionally advises design improvements, either geometric or material, to achieve the desired benefit.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Determines machining sequence of operation to complete the job task in a timely manner and meet tolerance requirements with the available equipment and tools. Job tasks are to be completed with minimal supervision.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Computes dimension measurements using hand calculations, calculator, or programs such as CAD (DraftSight, SolidWorks), using plan layouts to determine assembly methods and sequence of operations. Must be able to compute simple math and geometry/trigonometry formulas.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Able to machine and fabricate using FDA-compliant materials like stainless steel, aluminum, and acetal.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Utilizes material on hand or requests material to be ordered for the project; lays out the component with standard practices including measuring, marking, and scribing materials for machining.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Verifies dimensions, clearances, and alignment using measuring devices such as dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gages, and micrometers to ensure desired precision fit for equipment, assemblies, or components.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Works with setup and manufacturing engineers or technicians to troubleshoot component root cause failure, outline a sustainable repair/replacement path, and make critical repairs to release the equipment back to an operating state.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Performs predictive/preventive maintenance and assists with updating the predictive and preventative maintenance program.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Assists project completion with component modifications or custom guarding for new equipment installations to meet equipment validation requirements and timeline.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Documents, by methods of hand sketches (using standard views) or redlining the prints, the “as-built” state of the component and provides Engineering if modifications were required.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Documents, organizes, and labels new tooling, jigs, and fixtures.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Documents daily work logs and tracks time using Maximo software.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Maintains shop cleanliness in daily and weekly cleanups.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Requests material or tooling when needed to maintain stock inventory of the machine shop.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Supports team collaboration and cross training of peers on systems responsible to maintain, ensuring redundancy (operation/minor troubleshooting) in the Machine Shop Group.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Performs work in compliance with all national and local codes.</span><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Supports an on-call weekend rotation and is required to respond to occasional off-hours support calls during the week. Call-ins support production needs for hard-down equipment with machining/fabricating sustainable replacement parts for the equipment to operate.</span></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt"><strong>Working Conditions:</strong></span></p> <p><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Exposure to industrial machinery, moving parts, electrical and other energy sources. Works mostly in a machine shop; occasional tasks will be in the production environment. Well-lit, clean working area which follows all safety precautions and regulations. Lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds frequently and 65 pounds occasionally. Must be able to stand 8 hours per shift. Exposed to fumes and high-frequency noise in manufacturing areas. Safety glasses, hearing protection, safety-toed shoes, and short sleeves are required in the Machine Shop. Depending on designated area, other PPE or requirements include gown, hair covering, gloves, safety vest, and hard hat. Adheres to plant safety requirements, OSHA, and QSR/GMP/ISO guidelines as applicable.</span></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt"><strong>Education:</strong></span></p> <p><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Associate’s Degree in Tool Trade or Machinist Curriculum, or High School Diploma/GED plus experience acquired through a formal Journeyman apprenticeship in tool making or equivalent.</span></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt"><strong>Experience:</strong></span></p> <p><br><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">7–10+ years of experience in machine shop, tool and die making, or industrial maintenance required.</span></p> <p> </p><p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">The range for this position is $37.00 hourly rate - $40.00 hourly rate.
